Sedans from Tampa International Airport to South Tampa start at a written flat rate. SUVs start at $165. This rate is for a direct point-to-point transfer in a standard black car. South Tampa covers a wide area including Hyde Park, SoHo, Bayshore, Palma Ceia, and the MacDill corridor. The distance ranges from 7 to 12 miles. Common routes use the Veterans Expressway, State Road 589, to Kennedy Boulevard or Howard Avenue. Another option is Interstate 275 to Dale Mabry Highway or Westshore Boulevard south. Drive time is usually 20 to 35 minutes. Trips to the MacDill area can take 30 to 45 minutes.
What is the traffic reality and when should you add buffer?
Kennedy Boulevard, Howard Avenue, and Bayshore Boulevard slow during rush hour. Expect heavy traffic from 7:00 to 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Bayshore Boulevard runs 4.5 miles along Hillsborough Bay. It is billed as the longest continuous sidewalk in the world. Hyde Park Village is a historic district that dates back to the early 20th century. The corridor is popular with runners and cyclists, which can slow traffic on weekends. Add 20 minutes for weekday business trips and 30 minutes for MacDill arrivals.
What vehicles are used?
Black sedans are usually Lincoln Continental or similar full-size models. SUVs are typically Chevrolet Suburbans or Cadillac Escalades depending on affiliate availability. Sedans fit up to three passengers with two large bags. SUVs seat six or seven and handle more luggage. We do not own vehicles in Tampa.
