Sedans from St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport to Downtown Tampa start at a written flat rate. SUVs start at $175. This rate covers a direct point-to-point transfer in a standard black vehicle. Tolls and fuel are included. Terminal meet-and-greet, parking, and wait beyond the included grace period are extra. Gratuity is not included unless your corporate account includes it.
What roads do we use and how long is the drive?
The distance is about 18 miles via Interstate 275. The route leaves PIE at 14700 Terminal Boulevard and joins I-275 north across the Howard Frankland Bridge. Some drivers use the Gandy Bridge as an alternate. Drive time is normally 30 to 50 minutes. Off-peak trips can be closer to 25 minutes.
What is the traffic reality and when should you add buffer?
Interstate 275 northbound into Tampa slows from 7:00 to 9:00 a.m. Southbound out of Tampa slows from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The Howard Frankland Bridge widening project creates lane shifts and reduced speeds. Downtown Tampa's Water Street Tampa development has added traffic near Amalie Arena and the convention center. PIE is a focus city for Allegiant Air and handled roughly 2.5 million passengers in 2023. Add 25 to 35 minutes during rush hour or events.
What vehicles are used?
Black sedans are usually Lincoln Continental or similar full-size models. SUVs are typically Chevrolet Suburbans or Cadillac Escalades depending on affiliate availability. Sedans fit up to three passengers with two large bags. SUVs seat six or seven and handle more luggage. We do not own vehicles in Tampa. Our dispatch team is a Tampa-focused service that coordinates every ride through vetted local affiliate operators. The exact make and model may vary.
What should you know before booking?
PIE is a smaller airport than TPA. The terminal has a designated commercial ground transportation pickup area outside baggage claim. Downtown Tampa has one-way streets and limited standing zones. Providing the exact building or hotel helps the driver plan the closest legal drop. The Straz Center and Tampa Riverwalk are common downtown destinations that affect curb access.
