This rate covers a direct point-to-point transfer in a standard black vehicle. Tolls and fuel are included. Terminal meet-and-greet, parking, and wait beyond the included grace period are extra. Gratuity is not included unless your corporate account includes it.
What roads do we use and how long is the drive?
The distance is about 13 miles. Most affiliates take U.S. Highway 19 north to State Road 60 west. They cross the Clearwater Memorial Causeway onto Clearwater Beach. Some drivers use Alternate U.S. 19 or Bayshore Drive to avoid congestion. Drive time is normally 25 to 40 minutes. Light traffic can bring it under 25 minutes.
What is the traffic reality and when should you add buffer?
U.S. 19 carries heavy traffic through Pinellas County. The Drew Street and Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard intersections often back up. The Clearwater Memorial Causeway drawbridge can stop traffic for boat openings. Clearwater Marine Aquarium sits on Island Estates near the beach approach. PIE is located in unincorporated Pinellas County between Clearwater and St. Petersburg. Add 20 to 30 minutes on weekends and during spring break.
What vehicles are used?
Black sedans are usually Lincoln Continental or similar full-size models. SUVs are typically Chevrolet Suburbans or Cadillac Escalades depending on affiliate availability. Sedans fit up to three passengers with two large bags. SUVs seat six or seven and handle more luggage. We do not own vehicles in Tampa. What should you know before booking?
PIE is closer to Clearwater Beach than TPA, which keeps the base rate lower. The terminal has a designated commercial vehicle pickup area. Beach hotels have limited loading zones.
